Nigerian Shippers’ Council donates items to Ilorin General Hospital

 

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has donated medical items worth several millions of Naira to the General Hospital, Ilorin. to take care of its medical needs.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Abdulrazaq, who received the items on behalf of the State Government commended the Council for its generous donations to the less-privileged people in the State.

Speaking at the presentation of the items, the Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, said the medical items would assist the State in no small measure to further improve its healthcare delivery services.

In A statement by Falade Gbenga Tayo, Press secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Health on Wednesday in Ilorin, Dr. Raji also appreciated the Nigerian Shippers’ Council for extending its hands of generosity to the indigent members of the public.

He described the donation as a welcome development, using the children’s ward of the General Hospital, Ilorin to set priorities to reach the needy.

“The donation is much appreciated by the State Government and it will further consolidate the giant strides of the State Government under the able leadership of the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the health sector”, the Commissioner said.

Earlier in his address, the South-West Regional Director of the Council, Mr Glory Onojedo, said the Shippers’ Council was determined to assist the less-privileged people in the society, pointing out that the donation was part of the corporate social responsibility of the Council.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of General Hospital, Ilorin, Dr. Abdulkadri Ahmed, while appreciating the donor, promised that the items woulds be put into effective use to support patients care in the hospital.

Items donated include hospital beds, water-proof mattresses, blankets, a small deep freezer, rechargeable fans and lamps and electric irons.
