NESREA reiterates commitment to create awareness on environmental issues

To promote attitudinal change towards sustainable use of plastics in daily activities, Nigerians have been urged to imbibe the culture to re-use, reduce, repair, recover and recycle plastic materials to curtail the menace of plastic pollution.

Team lead of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA),Kwara field office, Martins Enewene stated this in Ilorin during a  chart with newsmen.

According to Enewene, plastic has been seen to be  Carcinogen noting that platic bottle can spend up to 450 to 1000 years  in the ocean before decomposition. Enewene also bemoaned the activities of Nigerian where they dump plastic refuse indiscriminately.

Speaking  on the  5th of June celebration of World Environment day  with the theme “Beat the plastic” and slogan “Love your Enviroment”,Enewene reiterated the commitment of the agency  to create awareness on specific environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity conservation ,e-waste, ground water and air pollution among others.
