National Assembly says Government Must Stop Borrowing to Fund Agencies

The House of Representatives has said that Nigeria’s high debt profile was consequent upon loans obtained to fund government agency with duplicated functions.

Chairman of the ad-hoc committee of the House set up to review the duplication of government agencies, Hon. Victor Danzaria raised the concern today at a session of the panel with the Director-General of Administrative State College of Nigeria (ASCON), Mrs Cecilia Gayya.

According to the resolution of the House, it was counterproductive for the country as it pays so much on agencies with overlapping functions, a culture which they allege be stopped and jettisoned.
