The National Assembly has resumed after it’s long break which it embarked upon on the 24th of July 2018.Most of the lawmakers were however absent today as the National Assembly is observed to be quite scanty of lawmakers.
Also, there is a rejig of the security at the National Assembly as more police officers and police trucks were sighted.More security men in unidentified uniform were also on the ground with strict instructions not to allow unauthorised persons into the National Assembly
While welcoming the Senate and the House of Representatives members back to legislative work, the Presidency on Monday urged the lawmakers to quickly settle down for work.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, SenatorItaEnang reminded the lawmakers of the request by President Muhammadu Buhari on the Supplementary Budget to provide for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other sources of funding which was still before them.
The SSA also urged them, as they resume, to consider the Electoral Amendment Bill that would ensure the proper mode and method of conducting the 2019 elections.
