The Minister of Foreign Affair, Geoffrey Onyeama, has expressed concern over the state of security in Nigeria, adding that religion and communal beliefs have become a tool of manipulation and conflict in the country.
The minister during the opening of the National Policy Roundtable on the Network of Policy Makers, said religion and communal living are painted as fundamentals that are inimical to peace, security and development.
Geoffrey noted that Nigeria during the post-independence era was engulfed with tragic instances of violent conflict and acrimony that erupted as a result of the manipulation of religion and ethnicity.
He, however, hinted that the communal lifestyle of Africans which is expressed in their religious beliefs is meant to facilitate solidarity, togetherness, and neighbourliness.
