Members of the Malete Community have been enjoined to co-operate and cohabit peacefully with the students of Kwara State University living within their domain in order to enthrone rapid Socio economic development in the area.
The Director center for Community Development of the University, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe who made the appeal at a meeting with various stakeholders in the Malete community said no community can develop or achieve growth without peaceful co-existence between residents and locals as peace and Security are important enablers of development.
Dr. Olohungbebe who noted that the community must learn to live peacefully with the Students and strive to devise mechanisms to checkmate excess of some members of the community advised the community leaders to be vigilant and guard against miscreants from neighbouring communities from disrupting the peace and tranquillity in the community.
The Director stressed that peaceful co-existence can only be achieved if all stakeholders come together to find a lasting solution to all the Conflicts between members of the community and the students.
In his response, the Chairman Malete Development Association,Mallam Muhammed Abdulrazaq promised to ensure that the peaceful relationship that has existed between the community and the students will be jealously protected and sustained.
Others present at the meeting include the Divisional Police Officer Malete Police Station,ASP Abraham Olufemi the Magaji of Malete ,Alhaji Babatunde Abdulrahman ; President KWASU students union, Yusuf Danshitta; the Malete Vigilante Group and representative from the Malete Youth Development Association.
