The Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic faction on Wednesday at Ajuji Hotel, Abuja.  held merger talks with fourteen other political parties.

A statement from the Facebook Page of the PDP said, “The parties are gathering to discuss possible ways of merger or working together to form a more formidable opposition to challenge the ruling party, the APC in the forthcoming general elections.”

The meeting was convened by Professor Jerry Gana of the PDP, Chief Olu Falae of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Alhaji Balarabe Musa of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).

Some of the other parties involved in the discussions include, Accord Party, Labour Party, National Conscience Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Speaking at the event, Professor Jerry Gana said the discussions was meant to build a structure and an alliance that would oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power come 2019.

Gana also said Nigerians were awaiting the merger so as to kick out the APC who have no idea on how to lead the country.
