The League Management Company, LMC, has shifted the resumption date of the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League to the twenty-first of May. The league was initially scheduled to resume on the seventh of May, but has now been moved forward, in order to clear a backlog of outstanding fixtures
The Chief Operating Officer of the LMC, Salihu Abubakar, in a notice to clubs communicating the new date, explained that it was to allow Rangers International and Rivers United complete their rescheduled fixtures.
Following their drop from the CAF Champions League to the CAF Confederation Cup, Rangers and Rivers United had a number of fixtures rescheduled by the LMC and the dates have dragged beyond the midseason break.
Rivers United will on Wednesday host Remo Stars while Rangers play in Enugu against Plateau United in some of the rescheduled games. Plateau United still top the league table with thirty-five points, MFM FC are second with thirty-three points and El-Kanemi Warriors are third also on thirty-three points.
