Lagos state govt demolishes illegal buildings in Lagos Island

Officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency on Saturday demolished some illegal structures and building erected without government’s’ approval.

The exercise which is in continuation of moves by the Lagos state government to ensure that buildings are duly certified and approved for construction affected some structures erected on Freeman street in Lagos Island.

This exercise according to the Lagos state government is also aimed at reducing incidents of building collapse.

The agency had earlier visited Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Yaba local government Areas two weeks ago demolishing and prosecuting offenders for flouting government’s regulation and breaking seals.

Apart from demolishing the buildings, more than 20 houses were also sealed and marked for demolition for failure to get approvals for construction.
