Following the enforcement of Okada Ban in Lagos State, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde has disclosed that the state government has recorded a significant improvement in the reduction of crime and accidents since the ban.
Speaking to newsmen in Ikeja, the Commissioner for Transportation said that crime and accident rate has reduced astronomically by eighty-six percent and sixty-three point seven percent respectively since the enforcement of the ban.
While revealing that a total of seven thousand five hundred motorcycles have been crushed since the inception of the ban, he added that the government has extended the ban to four more Local Government Areas and six Local Government Council Development Areas.
The affected Local Government Area includes; Kosofe Local Government, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Mushin Local Government Area, and Shomolu Local Government Area.
He noted that the state government has directed the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, other security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to simulate seamless implementation and enforcement of the ban, adding that individuals found wanting will face the law.
