The Labour Unions in Nigeria has given reasons for planning to embark on an industrial action from October 3, 2023 following the hardship faced by workers due to the removal of fuel subsidy.
Labour unions, while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday stated that it decided to embark on industrial action on October 3 to demonstrate their willingness to rescue the nation, where the people are central to the policies of the government.
Speaking during the press conference, the president of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Festus Osifo said the state and affiliate unions have been directed to mobilize members for a protest against the harsh conditions created by the removal of fuel subsidy.
In his remarks, the NLC National President, JOE AJAERO, during a virtual National Executive Council meeting held with the officials of the TUC to deliberate on ways forward, noted that it has resolved that the two centers should work together to make their stance known to the government.
