The organized labour has again threatened to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike if the Federal Government fails to transmit the e tripartite committee report on N30,000 minimum wage to the National Assembly on or before the thirty-first of December, 2018.
The organized labour gave the ultimatum following President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that a “high powered technical committee” would be set up to device ways to ensure that its implementation did not lead to an increase in the level of borrowing.
The leaders who met in Lagos on Thursday said they will not be part of the planned High-Powered Technical Committee, saying it is diversionary and a delay tactics.
They insisted that all discussions have ended on the new minimum wage as the labour union has since taken a stand.
President Buhari said he had directed the setting up of the technical committee to look at the mode of implementation. The President cautioned that strategies must be put in place to ensure that implementing the new wage does not further plummet the Nation into debts.
