The Kwara State Government has hosted the North Central Geo-Political Zone including; Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, Benue and Plateau on the Workshop for the implementation of the UN Food System Transformation Pathway geared towards eradicating the scourge of food insecurity and malnutrition in the country.
Speaking at the event in Ilorin, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Yaqub Jaja said with the current Economic realities in the country coupled with security challenges in the North-Central region and other parts of the country.
He also calls for urgent interventions to alleviate food security challenges looming large over the Nation, adding that the Workshop could not have come at a better time.
Dr Jaja further said, the State Government is committed to improving food production as well as achieve Zero hunger among the citizens especially the less privileged and vulnerable groups in the State.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Olusola Idowu who was represented by Professor of Biological sciences, University of Abuja, Professor Rachael Toyosi Idowu appreciated the State Government for the successful hosting of the North-Central Geo-Political Zone.
Idowu said the Government at Sub-National level is critical to the success of the implementation of the Food System Transformation Pathway.
She concluded that the workshop provided an opportunity to present and to discuss the identified priority actions selected for implementation from January 2022, to also define and assign roles and responsibilities for effective implementation of the priority auctions.
