The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, yesterday disbursed ten million-naira grants to one hundred entrepreneurs in the senatorial district in furtherance of his empowerment initiative.
The beneficiaries, who were selected across the seven local government areas of the senatorial district, were part of the 2017 first batch of two hundred youths that participated in the two weeks entrepreneurship program by Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Central Bank of Nigeria.
The program was held in collaboration with RIB Foundation, a brainchild of the legislator.
Speaking at the presentation of business grants to the trained participants, Senator Rafiu admitted that solution to unemployment in the country is not the sole responsibility of the government. The legislator, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), called for democratization of job creation and identified empowerment of entrepreneurs as a way of tackling the problem.
The governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Honorable Razak Atunwa, who also spoke at the ceremony, assured that his administration will make youths wealth creators to dissuade them from depending on government and office holders.
