The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the weekend, commenced distribution of special ambulances to three General Hospitals in the State.

This is in the bid by the State Government to further improve healthcare delivery services to the entire citizens and residents of the State.

The ambulances, earlier donated to the State by the BUA Foundation, were fully equipped with modern facilities to deliver mobile intensive care services from point of contact with patients to service delivery point

Presenting the ambulances to the benefiting General Hospitals in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Razaq Raji said the ambulances would further strengthen the referral system of the State healthcare services.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Abubakar Ayinla described the gesture as the fulfilment of another electioneering promise by His Excellency especially to the health sector.

He further reiterated the resolve of Gov. AbdulRazaq in fixing the health system and uplifting the standard of healthcare delivery services in the State, while also commending him for the on-going massive renovation of primary healthcare facilities.

He, however, advised the Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) of the three benefiting General Hospitals to ensure that the ambulances were used for the specific purposes of rendering both emergency and medical services in their respective localities.

The ambulances were later handed over to the CMDs of the three benefiting General Hospitals of Offa, Lafiagi and Ilesha-Baruba by Dr. Ayinla, who stood in for the Commissioner.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Saad Aluko, the Director-General of the Hospitals Management Bureau, appreciated the governor for his proactiveness in meeting the various crucial needs of the health sector in the State.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the CMD of General Hospital, llesha Baruba, Dr. Saka Ismail appreciated the governor for providing the hospitals with necessary enablements to deliver effective healthcare services to patients on behalf of the State Government.

He promised that they will put the ambulances into effective use to improve service delivery in their respective domains.
