As part of efforts to ensure efficient security in Nigeria, the Kwara state chapter of the Nigerian immigration service, NIS today Flagged-off the E-registration for foreigners where the state governor, Abdulrasaq abdulrahama charged all foreigners to use the opportunity to legalize their illegality.
Speaking at the ceremony which held at the banquet Hall in Ilorin, the governor applauded the immigration service for choosing Kwara state as part of the pilot states for the e-registration. He said the initiative will offers an opportunity for effective national security and socioeconomic planning.
In her welcome address, the state controller of immigration , Edith Onyemenam explained that the e-registration requires every migrant or foreigner who is above eighteen years of age and who intends to stay beyond ninety days to come forward for enrollment in order to control migration process in Nigeria.
In his message, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Zulu Gambari, who was represented by Etsu of Patigi, Ibraheem Bologi called for the support of traditional council to assist the immigration in order to ensure the success of the program. One foreigner from China named Jerry commended the Nigerian government for the initiative noting that the e-registration will fast-track movement of foreigners in Nigeria.
As reported by our correspondent, the Nigeria security and civil defense corps, the Nigeria police, the Nigeria army, the Nigeria navy and all other security officer were present at the event.
