The Kwara state government today flagged-off the meningitis vaccination exercise, to rid the state of any traces of meningitis disease. The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr KayodeAlabi flagged off the exercise at the Primary Health Care Centre, Pakata in Ilorin West Local Government
The deputy Governor said the state introduced the meningitis vaccine into the routine
immunization schedule to prevent the disease which, causes serious illnesses and deaths
especially in countries located at the meningitis belt, one of which is Nigeria.
While stating that the vaccine is to be made available to every eligible child at every health
facility offering routine immunization services in Kwara, he assured that the state government
is determined to ensure good health care delivery for all Deputy Governor
Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr
Abimbola Folorunsho, urged mothers and caregivers to ensure their children, nine to fifteen
months are immunized. She also urged traditional, community and religious leaders as well as other stakeholders to assist in ensuring that it is acceptedassist in ensuring that it is accepted.
