Kwara Commissioner to speak at NUJ 34th Media Parliament

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Kwara State, Dr Alabi Afees Abolore, has been designated as Guest Speaker at the 34th Media Parliament of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Themed “Reinvigorating Tertiary Education: Any Hope for Kwara?”, the event will hold on Tuesday, 11th of October, 2022 at NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin at 11 am.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Chairman and Secretary of Kwara NUJ Media Parliament Committee, Fatimah Rasheed and Babajide Fadeyi respectively, said the theme of the parliament was borne out of the urgent need to dissect the precarious situation of tertiary education in the society.

It added that the forum would afford the Commissioner the opportunity to share his perspective on the state of tertiary education in Kwara and what was being done to remedy some of the challenges confronting the sub-sector of education.

The statement further noted that the media parliament would avail the Guest Speaker a forum to interact with top-rated media practitioners with a view to, in turn, informing, enlightening and educating the citizens as well as bridging the yawning information gap between the policymakers and members of the public.

The statement quoted the state Chairman of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, to have urged members of the state council of NUJ across all Chapels to prepare adequately for the event and attend promptly.
