The Bishop, Diocese of Jebba, Church of Nigeria, Anglican communion, Right Reverend Dr Oluwaseun Aderogba has attributed the failure of the Nigerian government to find solution to the myriads of challenges confronting the nation to the power play between the President and the Presidency.
He said a nation is as good as failed nation when the power of the president has been hijacked by a cabal within the presidency.
Reverend Dr Aderogba made the observation on Saturday while delivering the Bishop’s charge at the second session of the fifth synod holding at the Cathedral Church of Saint Peters, Jebba, Kwara State.
The cleric said the disobedience of the Presidency to carry out the directives of the president or distort it is largely responsible for the failure of the government to put an end to spate of killings, bloodletting, and rising acts of criminality in Nigeria, a situation he said must be addressed.
He said, “Any nation where the President is controlled by the so-called Presidency, instead of the President controlling the Presidency, that nation is as good as failed nation, and a hijacked nation.
“A situation where the President will direct security agencies to shoot aat sight any Fulani herdsmen with AK47, and Garba Shehu issues a counter directive that they should not be shot, simply portends that something is critically wrong with the Presidency.”

“Let me appreciate his excellency for the regular payment of the workers in the state and also appeal that he should consider the scale of salary.
“There is a slogan in the state – ‘Our take home pay cannot take us home.’ Eventhough, we are aware of the financial constraint that the Kwara State Government is facing, it is good to put smile on the people’s faces.
He, however, charged him to ensure the return of mission schools to their owners without condition. He also advised Governor AbdulRazaq not to be influenced by some self-centered people.
“The issue of Hijab in Christian Mission schools has caused a lot of setbacks between the Christian community and the government. This issue wouldn’t have escalated to the level it is if the government had handled it carefully with fairness and without sectionalism.

On the theme, “I know whole I believe: the true christian affirmation and persuasion in time of trials,” the cleric said Christian faithfuls must remain affirmative in their faith in Jesus Christ as the Lord and saviour and never waver in the face of trials, tribulations, intimidation or temptation.
He said Christian faithfuls must rather remain steadfast in portrayal of the character Jesus and never look back.
