Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has ruled out the possibility of the Labour Party (LP) winning the presidential election in 2023.
Kwankwaso, who is contesting the election on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), made the comment during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
He however proposed an alliance with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, whom he wants to be his running mate in the poll.
Kwankwaso stressed that having a presidential candidate from the South East zone of the country spells doom, as according to him there are many issues with the zone which will prevent majority votes for the south east.
Although Kwankwaso is hopeful of an alliance, he explained why he cannot be a running mate to Obi and why the latter should accept the vice-presidential slot insisting that strategies must be enforced for the ruling party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be defeated in the next general elections.
