Kwankwaso, Melaye, 12 other senators dump APC for PDP

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has read a letter during the senate plenary this morning from 12 members of the All Progressives’ Congress senators declaring their defection from the ruling party,(APC) to the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The lawmakers include Rabi’u Kwankwaso (Kano-Central), Dino Melaye (Kogi-West), Monsurat Sunmonu (Oyo-Central), Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara-South), Suleiman Hunkuyi (Kaduna-North), and Lanre Tejuoso (Ogun-Central).

Others are Usman Nafada (Gombe), Ibrahim Dambaba (Sokoto), Mohammed Shittu (Jigawa) Isa Misau (Bauchi) Suleiman Nazif (Bauchi) Shaaba Lafiagi (Kwara) and Barnabas Gemade (Benue).

Also, Senator Abdul-Azeez Murtala-Nyako (Adamawa) who had earlier dumped the APC for the African Democratic Congress (ADP), also formalised his defection.

The Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan during plenary appealed to the defecting Senators not to defect, noting that the ruling party APC has its own internal disagreement but that does not translate to defection.
