In a bid to provide residents of Kwara state with access to evidence on COVID-19 resources, leading social accountability initiatives, Connected Development (CODE) has submitted its findings to the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, after completing its COVID-19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP) .
COVID-19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP) is an innovation implemented by Connected Development, BudgIT and Global Integrity with support from the Skoll and Conrad Hilton Foundation with a commitment to track all resources from public sector, private, multilateral and bilateral donors committed to COVID-19 pandemic.
In his brief remarks and presentation ,Kwara state lead for Connected Development (CODE) ,Kehinde Akinsola said “a total of 783 Primary Healds Care were visited across 34 states of the federations. The data collected were analyzed based on some thematic areas that includes Wash, Infrastructure, Personnel, Service A delivery and Covid-19 Vaccine Administration. All variables were analyzed vis a vis the minimum standard requirement for PHCs in Nigeria”.
In Kwara state ,Akinsola noted that 29 Primary Heath Care (PHCs) were visited in 10 LGA with 347,660 people sampled in the communities visited.The state lead for CODE noted that their findings showed that an average of 12164 people patronize the PHCs monthly with a ratio of PHCs to the population of commnuities standing at 1:11988 . Other areas with which CODE based its Summary of Primary Health Care status in Kwara include WASH, Personnel ,Infrastructure ,Vaccine storage ,Administered Vaccine and Service delivery .
In her remarks ,Executive Secretary Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Nusirat Elelu raised some concerns and observation about the results presented after the survey particularly querying the methodology ,criteria for LGA and PHCs selections ,Data presented. The state lead for CODE however clarified that the findings were based on the 29PHCs visited .
