Judges to declare assets before and after delivering judgment in election matters, others – NJC

As part of efforts to address the alleged corrupt practices of some judges in the judiciary, the National Judicial Council, NJC, yesterday issued a directive to all judges presiding in sensitive and highly visible trials such as election petition proceedings to declare their assets before they begin proceedings on such cases and immediately after they give judgement on such cases.National Judicial Council (NJC)
This directive will be reflected in the new code of conduct for judicial officers which is currently being reviewed by a 10-man Judicial Ethics Committee set up by NJC.
