IWO , ODO-EKU COMMUNAL CLASH: KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT SUES FOR PEACE

The Kwara State Government has sued for peace between the good people of Iwo and Odo-Eku Communities in Isin Local Government over the recent clash over Land disputes.

The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abduraman Abdulrazaq disclosed this during an emergency meeting with the Two Royal Highnesses of Oniwo of Iwo Oba (Arc) Joshua Olutade and Eleku of Odo-Eku Oba (Prof)E D Bamigboye and other relevant Stakeholders form the Council.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor,Mr Kayode Alabi disclosed that the present administration would no longer tolerate act of civil unrest in any Community in the State.

The Governor implored Royal Fathers to reflect on their people’s peculiarities and use their positions to build on the strengths that come from their diversities and common brotherhood.

He further disclosed that Traditional Rulers have been a strong pillar of support for this present administration.

In his contribution, the Honourable Member, representing Isin at the State House of Assembly,Hon. Olumide Awolola thanked the State Government for their timely intervention which had so far doused the initial tension the crises had generated and appreciate the ambiance where the Royal Fathers from the two Communities are brought together to further broker peaceful accord.

Also speaking , Specal Adviser to the Governor on Security, Brigadier General Saliu Tunde Bello (Rtd) admonished the two Royal Highnesses to maintain peace, adding that peaceful co- existence can only be achieved by the Monarchs by ensuring they call thier subjects to embrace peaceful dialogue.

In their separate responses, the two Monarchs thanked the Governor for facilitating the peaceful meeting to express their grey areas over the Community’s disputes between them.

They both assured the Governor that they would ensure that such ugly event would never re-occur between them again.
