In response to the recent surge in kidnappings, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, revealed on Monday that the relentless efforts of the FCT Command have led to the successful rescue of 128 victims and the arrest of 375 kidnappers.
Vanguard gathered that the IGP shared these updates during a strategic meeting with Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and Commissioners of Police in Abuja.
IGP Egbetokun highlighted specific incidents, stating that six kidnapped victims were rescued in Guzape and Kwaku areas, with three kidnappers apprehended after a shootout.
Over the last ten weeks, the Nigeria Police Force reported significant successes in reducing crime rates nationwide. Within this period, a total of 134 kidnapping victims were rescued, and 375 suspected kidnappers were apprehended.
“Within this period, our men were able to rescue a total number of one hundred and thirty-four (134) kidnapping victims, arrest three hundred and seventy-five (375) suspected kidnappers, and arrest five hundred and seventy-eight (578) armed robbery suspects in various operations across the country.” He said.
