Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has approved the recruitment of additional five hundred corps into the State Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun.
A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatunbosun informed that the approval for the recruitment was made during the monthly security meeting with chairmen of local governments, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde was quoted in the statement to have said recruiting new corps will enhance Amotekun’s performance and further deepen the security architecture of the state. The Governor also hinted that the meeting was to get the situation report from various quarters on security as well as to dialogue on what to do as stakeholders and fine tune necessary steps.
The statement concluded that security issue is a collective responsibility.
