The road through Araromi, to the second gate of the University of Ilorin at Bolohunduro, Ilorin South Local Government Area, has been graded through joint effort of the Ifedapo Community, Association of Landlords/Landladies and Association of Tricycle Riders plying Gaa Akanbi-Ago routes.
According to the spokesperson of the community, Idris Ogundokun, the decision to pull resources together to grade the road became necessary in view of the great damages to vehicles and discomfort being suffered by users due to the bad condition of the road.
Ogundokun lamented the deplorable state of the road which is subjecting residents and visitors to the area to untold hardships all year round.
He added that, passengers were often left stranded by commercial vehicles’ drivers and motorcyclists who complain about the destructive effect of the road on their vehicles and the huge amount they often spend on maintenance each time they ply the road. And as a result, passengers are often dropped at Agbabiaka end.
The two kilometer road had not received government attention since 2012 when construction began on it from Gaa Akanbi after which it was abruptly stopped at the Agbabiaka end and it had been subjected to erosion and other forms of degradation ever since.
While commending Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for his people oriented activities since he assumed office, Ogundokun appealed that the developmental self-efforts of the people of Ifesowapo Community be complimented by improving the drainage system and tarring the road to ease vehicular movements and business.
