Akinsanya Omotomi,a Lagos resident was reportedly hit by a Lebanese driver, John Greg on Sanusi Fafunwa Road on Victoria Island, Lagos which took place in the morning on Wednesday.
According to report, Greg drove against traffic, hits Akinsanya and sped off, leaving her on the spot of accident.
The suspect was immediately chased by passersby and motorists who were the ones that arrested him and handed him over to the police.
Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Banjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Greg’s arrest today.
The police spokesman said the suspect’s vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, had been impounded and the Embassy of Lebanon in Nigeria had been informed.
Hundeyin said the victim, Akinsanya was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and was still receiving treatment as of press time.
The PPRO said, “On May 4, 2022, at about 0745hrs, a middle-aged Lebanese by name John Greg ‘m’ drove a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road thereby hitting one Omotomi Akinsanya ‘f’ which resulted in serious injuries to her leg.
“He sped off but was chased and arrested. Suspect in our custody. Vehicle impounded and in our station. Victim undergoing treatment at LASUTH. Victim’s family duly informed. Embassy of Lebanon duly informed. Investigation ongoing.”
