Following an increase in cases of kidnapping and killings in Kwara State, the Kwara Likeminds Front has raised alarm over the rising spate of insecurity in the state.
The group also warned leading political parties against heating up the polity following the recent protests witnessed in the state capital recently, which led to the use of teargas and arrest of some press members.
Kwara Likeminds Front in a statement issued by its Convener, Honourable Maxwell Kolawole, in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, expressed concern that Kwara, which had for decades been adjudged a peaceful state is gradually becoming a haven for criminals.
The statement informed that It is disheartening that every day comes with fresh reports of kidnappings even within residential settlements, the most recent and rampant, being incidents around Ogidi, Alagbado area of Ilorin where residents were being abducted from their homes.
Kwara Likeminds Front in the statement contended that the inability of the police to prevent many of the deadly abductions, is unsettling and therefore asked the security agencies in the state to work together in order to restore peace in the state.
On the recent protest by some journalists against the Kwara State Government, Kwara Likeminds Front called for respect for freedom of speech and even as it sought amicable resolution in order to avoid breakdown of law and order. Kwara Likeminds Front, charged the police force to remain neutral and not allow itself to be used by self-serving politicians.
