Governors Express Concern Over Relocation Of Terrorists To North-East Region

Governors from the aegis of the North-East Governors’ Forum have expressed concern over the relocation of terrorists from the North-West region to the North-East region, saying the move has made the relative peace in the region vulnerable.

It was gathered that the governors made the disclosure during a meeting held in Gombe over the weekend. The meeting was attended by the governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, and Yobe states, while Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku was represented.

In a nine-point communique read by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni and signed by the Chairman of the North-East Forum, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, the forum stressed the need for a road map with the support of the Federal Government to dismantle the criminals.

The group also bemoaned the power distribution in the region estimated at five per cent and urged the Federal Government to expedite action towards harnessing the potential of the Mambila power project.
