Gombe SSG, Njoji charges GSU Senate members on innovation

 

The Secretary to Gombe state Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has challenged Gombe State University Senate members to come up with ideas that would propel the institution to greater heights.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a one day retreat organised by the University at the Banquet hall, government house Gombe, Professor Njoji said it is for this reason that government decided to honour the universities autonomy.

He called on the Senate members to continue to identify and profer solutions that will enhance both academic and structural development of the University.

The Secretary to the State Government revealed some of the challenges, confronting the state university, including inadequate financing,in the midst of myriads of issues the state has to contain with, calling on the University Senate to think outside the box to achieve meaningful Progress.

Chairman of the occasion, Professor Bashir Haruna Usman commended the management of the University for developing a workable document which the retreat aims to disect and review.

He charged the participants to contribute meaningfully in the discussions during the technical session, so as to come up with implementable ideas.

In and address of welcome, Vice Chancellor, Gombe state University, Professor Aliyu El-nafati said the retreat is part of the University’s inclusiveness in governance, designed to galvanize leadership of the institution to brainstorm on guidelines governing the University’s administration.

He said in the course of the retreat, six documents are lined up for review, adding that, emerging issues would also be included if they are important in shaping the final documents.

A communique is expected at the end of the session.
