As part of preparation to kick start the technological means of reducing vehicle speed in a bid to prevent drivers from running beyond certain speedometer, the kwara state command of the Federal Road Safety Commission has commenced enlightenment campaign in the state.
Speaking at the first enlightenment campaign held at sawmill garage in Ilorin, the sector commander, Sunday Maku explained that “Nona concepts Nigeria limited” remains the only supplier of the speed limiting device in kwara state which he said has been certified by Federal Government through the technical committee on implementation of speed limiting device which is managed by Richfield technology limited.
Addressing the drivers, one of the Directors of Nona concepts Nigeria limited, Philip Kolo and a director from Richfield technology limited Jokthan Sulieman unanimously warned drivers not to tamper with the device after being installed in their vehicles’ engines, saying penalty for such action is fifty thousand naira fine.
Speaking at the event, the state chairman of Road Transport Employer Association of Nigeria Alhaji Salman Ayoku urged the FRSC to extend the speed limiting device to private vehicles noting that private vehicle are also responsible for accident on high ways.
The NURTW chairman Yisa Ore in his remarks urged government to rehabilitate dilapidated roads across the country.
