Fire engulfs seven-story building in Kwara

A seven-flat building at number sixty-three Lawyer Laro Street Olorunshogo Area in Ilorin West Local Government Area engulfed with fire in the early hours today as a result of power surge.

Speaking to RoyalFM News, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle explained that no life was lost as the residents vacated the building before any damage was done.

He added that though the whole building had been engulfed by the blazing fire before the arrival of the firefighter, the firemen within a short period of time extinguished the inferno and also damped the surrounding in order to stop the further fire escalation.

Hassan further stated that the total property lost due to the incident was estimated to be around eight point five million naira, while the firefighters were able to save property worth four point seven million naira.
