Federal Road Safety Corps guts petrol-laden tanker in Niger

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said that a petroleum-laden tanker had been gutted by fire in Badeggi village, along Bida- Lapai road in Bida Local Government Area of Niger.

The state Sector Commander, Kumar Tsukwam, while speaking to journalists said the incident happened on Saturday. He further stated that the tanker which was conveying PMS to Abuja started leaking while in motion.

He added that the driver in an attempt to salvage the situation parked and tried to fix the leakage, before fire from a tea shop ignited, then followed the trail of the leakage and set the tanker, as well as two other articulated vehicles ablaze.

The FRSC State Commander also confirmed that the four people involved in the incident are all safe.
