Federal Polytechnic Offa receives Radio License

The Federal Government through the National Broadcasting Commission has granted approval to The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State to operate a  radio station.

The approval was contained in a letter of grant to operate a campus radio given to the Polytechnic on Friday, 17th February, 2023  at the headquarters of the National Broadcasting Commission, Abuja.

The Federal Polytechnic Offa is one of the sixty-seven new entrants granted a radio license by the Director General of NBC, Mall Balarabe Sheu Ilelah, and received by the Dean School of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Mrs. Oluwakemi Ogungbamigbe on behalf of the Ag.Rector.

The Director General who presented the offer letters to beneficiaries said the Presidential approval of

the radio license is a testimony of President Buhari’s yearning for media pluralism and freedom of expression.

While addressing the beneficiaries, he said the opportunity for approval should not be taken for granted. Adding that the license is on trust and a public property that should be used to preach unity and progress of the country. He further enjoined the beneficiaries not to go against the code and operations of the license and must conduct themselves within the law of the nation.

The new approval brings to seven hundred and forty the number of functional broadcasting outfits in Nigeria.
