Federal Government pledges fifteen percent of national budget allocation to education
The Federal Government has pledged to allocate fifteen percent of the national budget to the development of the educational sector.
While meeting with the Joint action of the Non-Academic Union of Allied and Education Institutions NASU and the National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu added that the government has directed the National Universities Commission NUC to begin the process of ensuring that all schools are updated otherwise be sanctioned.
In his remarks, the general secretary of the Non-Academic Union of Allied and Education Institutions (NASU), Peter Adeyemi said the union presented the outcome of the negotiation with the government to the union members, who accepted the offer and mandated that the strike to be suspended with effect from Wednesday, 24th of August, 2022.
On his part, the National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Mohammed Ibrahim, said the union after listening to the plea from parents, students, Nigerians, and the government meeting about eighty percent of their demands has accepted the resumption to duty on the date mentioned above.
