Following efforts to trace illegal online money lenders, the Federal Government has accused Google of obstructing its efforts to enforce the withdrawal of the applications.
According to the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Babatunde Irukera said Google has been uncooperative with the Commission in its efforts to enforce the withdrawal of applications (Apps) being used by the money lenders from its Play Store.
Irukera said he considers the uncooperative attitude of Google as a potential threat to national interest.
It is recalled that three weeks ago, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission raided the offices of some online loan sharks operating illegally in Lagos.
