Registrar of the Chartered Institute of Local Government And Public Administration of Nigeria CILGPAN, Dr. Uche Okereke FCPA has admonished members of the institute to use their skills and professionalism in the development of rural communities in the country.
The Registrar gave the advice during the induction of four members of the institution who were upgraded to Fellows in the Membership Continuous Education Program, which was organized to update and enlighten the knowledge of members of the institute.
Speaking during the Membership Continuous Education Program, a fellow of the Institute, Professor AbdulRauf Ambali FCPA disclosed that administrators have a significant role to play in the development of Rural Communities by providing the necessary basic amenities available in urban areas and giving autonomy to the Local Governments.
Professor Ambali who delivered the speech titled Social Stratification and Politics of Rural Development, the Public Administrators Involvement also laments the standard of the market value in Nigeria, adding that despite the cultural beliefs of Nigeria to work hard to achieve success the failure of the government to create an enabling environment makes it difficult for the growth of the country and the rural areas.
However, the second lecture titled the Impact of Public Administration in Ensuring the Effectiveness of Rural Reference Programs and the Management of Nigeria Political-Economy to Achieve Good Governance was delivered by another fellow of the institute, Malomo Ayantola Gbemiga FCPA.
In his lecture, Mr. Malomo lamented the inability of public administrators to provide policies to propel the growth and development of the country.
The program which was organized over the weekend in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital was spearheaded by the North Central Coordinator of institute Mallam Adeyanju Adeola Ibrahim and witnessed by members of the institute across the North Central Zone.
