ENVIRONMENT: KWARA GOVT CONDEMNS DISTRUPTION OF ACTIVITIES

Kwara State Government has condemned the attitude of traders disrupting the placement of mobile waste containers in the appropriate places due to illegal trading at the road setback.

The State Commissioner of Environment, Mrs Julianah Funke Oyedun made this known today during all round inspection in the Ilorin metropolis for proper supervision of the compliance by the waste contractors in evacuating waste.

Mrs Oyedun, who in company of the Director of Environment, Mr Sunday Ajide, said the mobile waste containers placed on walkways have caused alot of disturbance and nuisance, especially traffic hold ups whenever the waste contractors are picking up the refuse on the road.

In another vein, the commissioner urged waste contractors to pick up refuse early in the morning saying lateness to work will not be condoned.

She further said diligence to work will go a long way in complimenting the efforts of the present administration in revamping the health sector

Areas inspected are Tipper garage, Tanke, Kulende, Sango area, Gambari area, Ita Ajia road, Oja oba market, Abdul Aziz attah road, Airport road and Asa dam.
