Ekiti Assembly impeaches deputy speaker

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has impeached its deputy speaker, Segun Adewumi.

Mr Adewunmi was impeached by the lawmakers on Thursday during plenary and was replaced by Adesina Bamidele Animasaun.

Mr Adewunmi was impeached based on several acts amounting to gross misconduct, personal conducts likely to bring the honourable House to disrepute, obvious threat to peace of honourable members, obstruction of constitutional functions of the house. Dereliction, desertion, abscondment and abandonment of constitutional vested responsibilities of the office of the deputy speaker.
