Eid-el-Fitri: Party banners, sachet water, can drinks, others banned at Ilorin prayer ground

Ahead of the Eid-el-Fitri festivities, prospective worshippers have been advised not to come to Ilorin Eid Prayer Ground with sachet of pure water, bottled water and can drinks.

They were also told not to access the prayer ground with leaflets and banners of political parties and organizations with a warning that anyone caught would be arrested and prosecuted.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Ilorin Eid Committee, Dr Abdulrazaq Amuda and the Director, Security and Special Services, Governor’s Office, Ilorin, Alhaji Gesinde Amosa Adedeji and made available to Journalists in Ilorin .

The statement explained that hawking and begging are prohibited along the routes and inside the prayer ground, saying that appropriate places have been provided within the prayer ground for such purposes. It added that movement of people in group would not be allowed on the day of Eid-el-Fitri.

The statement also admonished worshippers presently using Eid premises for prayer activities to vacate the sacred ground in their own interest latest by 4pm today (Thursday) with a view to allowing security agents do their jobs. It also asked owners of broken down vehicles parked along Eid road or premises to remove them  threatening that any defaulter would have his vehicle towed away and would not be released without an option of fines.
