EFCC hands over N100m loot to Kwara State Government

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu disclosed that the agency has recovered over one hundred million naira for the Kwara State Government from corrupt officials in the State.

Magu, who spoke through Isyaku Sharu, the zonal head of the EFCC office in Ilorin, stated that since the EFCC started full operations in its Ilorin Zonal Office around February 2019, the operations have cut across all areas, and have resulted in the recovery of over one hundred million naira cash belonging to the Kwara State Government which was allegedly stolen by politicians and prominent individuals within the State, amongst others.

Magu further revealed that when the commission started their operations in February which was the eve of the 2019 General Elections, they started tracking vote buying which borders on economic crime. Today, according to Magu, the Ilorin Zonal office of the Commission has secured no fewer than twenty six convictions related to vote buying, while about fifteen cases are still pending in Court.
