Eagles to undergo COVID-19 test before Sierra Leone tie

Members of the Super Eagles team will undergo COVID-19 test today ahead of their Friday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. The COVID-19 test will be carried out by 10am.

The itinerary for the Eagles for Wednesday also includes training in the hotel which is scheduled for 10:30am, team meeting for 12:30 pm and lunch at 1pm. The team are expected to have their evening training at the stadium by 5pm before having dinner at 8:15pm.

As at Wednesday morning, a total of 19 players had arrived the Eagles base. The players already in camp are captain Ahmed Musa, his vice William Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun. Others are Kevin Akpoguma, Sebastin Osigwe, Zaidu Sanusi, Tyronne Ebuehi, Etebo Oghenekaro, Maduka Okoye, Ike Ezenwa, Chidozie Awaziem, Kelechi Iheanacho and Emmanuel Dennis. Chidera Ejuke, Samuel Chukwueze and Paul Onuachu are the latest set of players to arrive the team base.

Five players are still being expected in camp for the Sierra Leone game. They are Victor Osimhen, Shehu Abdullahi, Kenneth Omeruo, Daniel Akpeyi and Semi Ajayi.

Meanwhile, journalists will now be allowed to watch the Eagles game and other AFCON qualifiers across Africa. The new guidelines were approved by the Confederation of Africa Football on Tuesday after the football body had earlier banned members of the media.
