The home-based Super Eagles will leave for Cotonou on Friday, the eleventh of August, 2017 ahead of their 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) playoffs first leg qualifier against Benin Republic. The Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, confirmed this today.
According to Ibitoye, the team will travel by road from Lagos after heading down from their training camp in Kano by air. Benin Republic shares a border with Nigeria at Some in the outskirts of Lagos
The first leg qualifier between Benin Republic and the home-based Super Eagles is billed for Sunday, the thirteenth of August, while the return leg comes up a week later in Kano. The winners over two legs will qualify for the 2018 CHAN in Kenya.
Benin Republic knocked out Togo seven-six on penalties in the first round qualifier. The game was tied at two-two on aggregate. Nigeria drew a bye into the final qualifying round.
