The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) over his alleged sponsorship of the Indigenous People of Biafra, the Nation reports.
The former Army chief was arrested at his Maitama, Abuja home on Tuesday.
It is reported that his arrest was also connected to the ongoing $2.1 billion arms purchase probe involving former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The former COAS since his retirement has been levied with various allegations including that raised by an Australian, Stephen Davis who was invited by the Federal Government to negotiate with Boko Haram terrorist.
Davis had alleged that Ihejirika and a former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff were among the financiers of the terrorists sect in his report. Both men have since denied the allegation.
