A Don, Doctor Mahmud Danjuma, has cautioned Nigerians against religious and ethnic bigotry in all their dealings.
Doctor Danjuma, who is of the Department of Arabic, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, gave this caution while delivering a Ramadan Lecture themed “The Place of Religion in Politics and Governance” at the Second Annual Iftar organized by Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ held at Press Centre, Ilorin
The Islamic Scholar observed that no nation could develop in the serenity of hatred, religious and tribal sentiments and enjoined journalists to be factual in their reportage devoid favouritism.
In his address, Chairman, Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Abdul-lateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, identified journalists as critical stakeholders of the political process saddled with the responsibility of disseminating undiluted information.
Comrade Ahmed encouraged Nigerian leaders to be alive to their responsibilities in responding to the yearnings and aspirations of the people
