Court grants Patience Jonathan unrestricted access to her $5.9m account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday withdrew its stay of execution order against the unfreezing of the account of the wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan with $5.9m.

Counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the Federal High Court in Lagos that the agency was no longer appealing the unfreezing order and the commission was withdrawing its application seeking to stay the execution of the order.

Patience’s lawyer, Ifedayo Adedipe said he would also withdraw Form 48 and Form 49 he filed to cite Skye Bank for contempt of court.

Justice Olatoregun granted their prayers to withdraw their respective applications.

With this development, the former first lady now has unrestricted access to her account.
