CORONAVIRUS: FG imposes travel ban on heavily affected countries

The secretary to the Government of the federation, Boss Mustapha announced that the federal government has placed a travel ban on travellers from countries at high-risk of COVID-19.

The countries are China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Switzerland. These countries have recorded over 1,000 confirmed coronavirus cases.

The task force said travellers from the nations would be subjected to supervised self-isolation and testing for 14 days.

The new directive is coming less than 12 hours after the government banned all foreign travels for public officials in the country.

The government also suspended the visas issued to nationals of those countries.
