Christmas Cow Reportedly Kills Youth Leader In Bayelsa

Tragedy struck on Christmas eve when a cow, bought to celebrate Christmas reportedly killed a former youth president of Obogoro community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr Sobokime Igodo.

It was gathered that the deceased and a group of friends had contributed money to buy the cow, to kill and share as they normally do every Christmas.

According to the residents of the area, the incident happened at the deceased’s residence where sharing of the cow was supposed to take place. The victim died when the two butchers hired to kill the cow were unable to make the animal stand but kept attempting to find a way to kill it.

But late Igodo who was inside the house had come out not noticing what transpired between the butchers and the cow, as he was on phone call, when suddenly the cow got up and charged towards the deceased, kicked him so hard that he landed on his back and broke his spine.

He was said to have been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa where he was referred to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

However, reports later confirmed that the late youth leader died at the teaching hospital in Port Harcourt.

When contacted, as at the time of writing this report, the police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, denied knowledge of the incident.
