Catholic bishop, stakeholders attribute bad leadership to excessive monetary inducement
The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, and other stakeholders have attributed the emergence of bad leaders to excessive monetization of the political space, harping on the import of application of Christian values and meritocracy in political leadership.
Okafor said this while delivering his remarks as Keynote Speaker at the maiden public lecture, matriculation of five students and commissioning of 34 new evangelizers of the Fides School of Theology and Evangelization (FSTE), St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, Anambra State, at the weekend.
Guardian reports that while welcoming the participants, the Director of the School, Father Celestine Muonwe, lamented that the sad reality and consequences of monetizing the political process is that many young people, with good vision to serve the society, are not able to have the chance to do so, unless they seek the support of moneybags.
